The Beaches

The church is called ‘Bom Jesus’ which means ‘infant Jesus’ or ‘good Jesus’. The famous Bom Jesus Basilica is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is regarded as the best examples of baroque architecture, is also the first Minor Basilica in India. It is dedicated to St. Francis Xavier and hence called as St. Francis Xavier’s tomb. There is heavy crowd during the feast of St. Francis Xavier which is held every year on the 3rd of December and proceeds with a nine-day novena.

Mangeshi Temple

Shri Mangeshi Temple is one of the most popular, largest and wealthiest Hindu shrines of Goa. The temple is located on a hillock at Mangeshi village in Priol, in the Ponda Taluka. It is dedicated to lord Shiva and has an interesting tale of Lord Shiva visiting here as per the Hindu mythology. A seven storey octagonal lamp tower is the main attraction of the place.
